Pitino responds to Calipari criticism and he is not happy

RIck Pitino has some choice words for Coach Cal!

Last week, Kentucky coach John Calipari took a not-so-veiled at his Louisville counterpart in Rick Pitino. He said that coaches always know what's happening on campus and basically placed all the blame for the escort scandal on Pitino who has said that it was all done by former assistant Andre McGee.

It took Pitino a few days to respond, but he also told Mike Lupica that that just wasn't the case and that Calipari should be more concerned with promoting the game than trying to take down other people.

From the Courier-Journal:

"Whether it's Duke last month or us this month, these type of comments - we're here to build up the image of college basketball, not tear people down," Pitino said, making a reference to Calipari's recruiting manifesto that many believed was a shot at Duke and its recruiting tactics.

"I don't live in a glass house, and I don't throw stones."

...

"I don't have time to figure out what he did or didn't mean," Pitino said. "If our paths cross this summer, I'll ask him."

I hope that happens on the recruiting circuit and hopefully someone gets a whiff of the conversation so we can all blast both coaches for being so petty. It certainly sounds like the teams will have a date scheduled in December —- either the 20th or 21st —- when they meet for their annual rivalry game and it should be pretty hostile.
