Tennessee has enjoyed quite a successful year on the offensive side of the ball. It’s second in the SEC scoring points, fifth in passing yards and was second in red zone conversion. Senior quarterback Josh Dobbs had 36 total touchdowns and you could argue that the defense is what let the team down down the home stretch.

So it might come as a surprise that 247Sports’ Travis Haney is reporting that sources state offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is considering retirement. Haney’s sources indicate that defensive coordinator Bob Shoop will not be fired despite an incredibly disappointing season on defense. The report also states that the strength program will get an “overhaul.”

DeBord is 60 and has worked with Butch Jones before at Central Michigan when he was the head coach and Jones was the running backs coach. The two reunited last season when Mike Bajakian bolted for the NFL and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
