Report: An NFL franchise is about to start its coaching search before even firing its head coach

He started with two 9-7 seasons in his first years as the head coach.

According to CBS' Jason La Canfora, the San Diego Chargers are planning to begin its coaching search soon and are expect to can head coach Mike McCoy after the season is over.

After two 9-7 seasons in his first years as the head coach, McCoy's Chargers have dropped to 4-12 and 5-10 over the last pair of campaigns.

If the Chargers do fire McCoy, he'd be the third head coach to lose his job (following Jeff Fisher, L.A. Rams and Gus Bradley, Jacksonville Jaguars).

The Chargers are expected to make a push to move to Los Angeles as well.

According to the report, McCoy could land again as an offensive coordinator with young franchise quarterbacks (Rams, Jaguars or Minnesota Vikings were listed as possible spots).
