Report: Arrest warrants to be issued in growing Michigan State football scandal

The situation in East Lansing doesn't look great.

The Michigan State Spartans struggled through a brutal season on the football field in 2016 and things are getting worse off the field for Mark Dantonio's program. Last week, word broke that three MSU players and a member of the coaching staff were suspended in connection with what was an alleged sexual assault on campus. Now, it appears that charge has escalated.

John Taylor of CollegeFootballTalk brings word that Michigan State's university police department put in a request to the Ingham County prosecutor's office for arrest warrants in the case. The report indicates that the prosecutor has not acted just yet.

As of now, there is no word as to who the Michigan State players are that have involvement in the proceedings. It remains to be seen as to whether any or all will be charged and to what extent, but this is a dark cloud hovering over East Lansing as the university waits for additional information.
