Report: Charlie Strong has been 'in discussion' with one school for head coaching job

Good for him.

With Texas recently firing Charlie Strong as its head coach, his name has been connected to a few head coaching vacancies now. He had been connected to Western Michigan if P.J. Fleck were to leave, Purdue (before they hired Brian Brohm), Cincinnati and a couple others in the last couple weeks.

While there haven't been any reports on who he has actually talked to it seems that we are finally getting some hint at where Strong may be looking to coach. Sources tell Philly.com that Strong had a discussion with Temple about their recently open job. "They had a conversation with Strong, that is a fact," the source said. Matt Rhule was the coach until he took the Baylor job earlier this week on Tuesday.

While Strong could just hang out for a year and keep a low profile, that's not really his personality. And he could be keeping the $11.2 million buyout, but he doesn't want to stay stagnant for the most part. However, the source also stated that a majority of Temple players would favor the hiring of defensive coordinator Phil Snow as head coach and have voiced their opinion to the administration.

It is unknown how interested Strong is in the job, but having a discussion at least signals to other schools that he would like to stay coaching rather than take a year off.
