Report: Duke to bar NBA scouts from its practices

This is an interesting way to do it.

The Vertical is reporting that Coach K will bar scouts from attending his practices during the season, which is common practice so scouts can see how players respond to coaching and how hard they work when no one is watching them on TV. While scouts won't be at practices during Duke's season, the program will hold a couple pro days for them to come see its players.

NBA executives were extended invitations to pro days on Oct. 19 and 25 at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the second of which coincides with the opening night of the NBA regular season, Duke informed front offices on Tuesday. NBA teams are still free to scout any college game they like so there will still be plenty of scouts watching Duke basketball this season.

This is the first time Duke has tried the pro day format. The first day will have skill work and drills while the second day will be a scrimmage with game officials. Kentucky instituted pro days as well, but the Wildcats hold it on consecutive days so scouts can make one trip.

Duke potentially has three first rounders on its team with junior Grayson Allen and two freshman in Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum. If other guys play well enough like Marques Bolden and Frank Jackson then they could find themselves bolting up draft boards as well.
