Report: Early returns on LSU coaching search doesn't bode well for the Tigers

Did LSU make a horrible decision?

Soon after Les Miles was fired by LSU earlier in the week, Footballscoop.com dropped a list of candidates they reported the Tigers would be contacting to fill the vacancy.

After allowing a few days for the dust to settle, it appears the coaching search is coming into picture just a bit more. And it's not good for the Tigers.

While reports continue to be adamant that Ed Orgeron could work his way into the position, the other names on the original list don't appear as interested.

Per Footballscoop.com, Nick Saban and Urban Meyer don't have "any interest in leaving their current situations for LSU and their representatives have ensured that is known." As of now, the same is believed in regards to Tom Herman of Houston.

According to the same report, while Jimbo Fisher was "awfully close" to saying yes last season, he might not feel the same way now. Though they maintain the door "doesn't seem fully closed." Football Scoop goes on to call Bob Stoops a "long shot" after speaking to those in the know.

As of now, Herman remains the heavy favorite (per bookmaker.eu) to land at LSU. Other dark horses that could conceivably land at LSU are Lane Kiffin and Larry Fedora.
