Report: Tenured NFL head coach is expected to be out of his job after season finale

The Bengals are winless in seven playoff appearances under Lewis.

If reports are true, Marvin Lewis is going to end his coaching career after truly ever getting over the playoff hump.

According to former Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley, Lewis is planning to retire after the season's end, per 247sports.

"From somebody I know in Cincinnati, Marvin Lewis will retire at the end of this year, slash, be asked to retire. Which is the only information I know," Cooley said on his Sunday morning radio show on ESPN 980, via Cincy Jungle.

"The idea is that he's (Marvin Lewis) been slowly packing up the office though," Cooley claimed. "Slowly putting the pieces away so next Sunday, he can get home, have a little meeting and say see ya, I'm going to spend some time in Arizona and play some golf."

Lewis has been Cincinnati's head coach since 2003, racking up a 117-103-3 record.
