Report: Tim Tebow receives significant contract offer to play baseball

Looks like Tebow has landed an official offer.

It looks like Tim Tebow's baseball career is closer to a reality than we all originally thought.

According to Yahoo!, Tebow received a contract offer to play winter ball with Aguilas del Zulia, a professional team in Venezuela. The offer was on the eve on Tebow's "baseball showcase", where the former Heisman Trophy winner planned to essentially tryout in front of 20 Major League Baseball team.

While this isn't a major league deal, it shouldn't be treated as nothing; the Venezuelan winter ball league is one of the tops in the world, and famous pro players like Greg Maddux and Jimmy Rollins have played for Aguilas del Zulia in the past. They are five-time Venezuelan champs, and they have won the Caribbean World Series twice.

"He's a great talent," Zulia general manager Luis Amaro said to Yahoo! "He's an athlete. He's won the Heisman. He's won two national championships. I know baseball is a hard game, but he'll either adjust and show he's ready to play pro ball or not. I think it's low risk, high reward for Zulia."

Whether or not this is just some media stunt doesn't really matter. A lot of people, from the teams attending his workout session to former MLB players, have been complimentary of Tebow's skills, and he might actually have something going for him.

Tebow hasn't played a regular season NFL game since 2012. He last played for the Eagles in the 2015 preseason, but he was cut before the start of the regular season.
