Saban has narrowed down his QB options for opener against USC

There were some rumors coming from Alabama practices that freshman Jalen Hurts might become the starter for the season opener against USC. This is why you have to get the words from the horse's mouth though.

Head coach Nick Saban said at his press conference on Monday that he's down to two options to play quarterback this weekend and Hurts is not one of them.

However, don't count out Hurts to find a way onto the field though. Saban still believes that Hurts can contribute on the field and be a productive player.

Cooper Bateman completed 37 of 52 passes for 291 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions last season. Barnett redshirted last season so he did not record any stats.
