Alabama held their first scrimmage leading up to the season Saturday with quite a few questions left to be answered. The scrimmage was closed to the public and to the press, but afterwards Saban did talk to the media. There have been many questions swirling around the Bama offense mostly centering on the quarterback and the running backs and after the Tide's scrimmage coach Saban was left feeling good about his running back group, which is very young.
"The young guys, I think, all did a pretty decent job," Saban said. "I think that we're very encouraged by what they've been able to do daily in practice, and I feel like those guys can certainly be contributors for us. B.J. is a very naturally instinctive guy, really works hard, has got a lot to learn, but he is working hard at it and has done a really good job so far."
"Damien Harris, I think, has done a pretty good job so far," Saban said Saturday. "We just gotta keep working those guys, and I think they're all gonna make a contribution to the team this year."
The true freshman B.J. Emmons is garnering a lot of attention thus far in practice and is impressing his coaches and teammates. Currently sophomore Bo Scarbrough is the number one back, but things could change based on who shows Saban the most. With such a young backfield anything is possible for the Tide.
