Former Vanderbilt football player Cory Batey has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, the minimum sentencing, after he was found guilty in the rape of an unconscious woman in 2013, according to the Tennesseean.
The victim requested the maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, but he was given 15 years after he was found guilty of aggravated rape, facilitation of aggravated rape, two counts of attempted aggravated rape and three counts of aggravated sexual battery.
The 22 year old was reportedly tried and convicted twice after his first conviction was thrown out.
In court, Batey called the rape an, "unintentional tragedy."
Three other former Vandy players were charged in the case, as Brandon Banks and Jaborian McKenzie have pleased not guilty as they await trial. Brandon Vandenburg was found guilty on all eight counts against him, and he awaits a prison term of 15-25 years at a sentencing hearing September 30.
