Shades of Randy Johnson: a bird almost died at the hand of a baseball

Don't fly in front of pitches, birds!

A bird flew right into the path of a pitch from St. Louis Cardinals Adam Wainwright, nearly ending it's life.

The bird appeared unharmed (the same can't be said for Cheslor Cuthbert's confidence, who whiffed on the pitch) but if birds could think like humans, you'd bet it's thinking to never go near another baseball stadium. Or to stay away from Cardinals games. It's not everyday a team with a bird for a mascot, nearly kills an actual bird.

Of course, this brings up memories of 2001 when "The Big Unit" Randy Johnson obliterated a bird during spring training.

The Royals went on to defeat the Cardinals 6-2.
