Situation worse than ever at Notre Dame as Brian Kelly is reportedly trying to bolt

This situation could get ugly.

Notre Dame just finished its worst season in almost a decade, and head coach Brian Kelly might be looking into taking another job.

Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick has maintained his stance that Kelly's job is safe, but Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports reported Kelly might be looking elsewhere.

After Notre Dame's loss to USC — which dropped the Irish to 4-8 on the year — Kelly said he wanted to be back in South Bend next season.

The Irish also had to vacate wins from 2012 and 2013 due to an academic fraud scandal. Amid the rumors about Kelly looking elsewhere for work, he released a statement through the school on Twitter.

There aren't many coaching vacancies at major programs right now, though some could become available within the next few days.
