SMU facing accusations of academic improprieties

According to ESPN, SMU has received a Notice of Allegation from the NCAA that includes accusations of academic improprieties. A lot of the issues revolve around sophomore guard Keith Frazier. He had difficulty meeting the eligibility requirements for SMU before his freshman year and assistant coach Ulric Maligi is under investigation for his involvement with Frazier before he enrolled at SMU. Maligi has taken a leave of absence for personal reasons. Frazier has been ruled ineligible the rest of the season due to his current academic standing, pending a ruling on his final appeal this week.

The Mustangs are 14-4, having won 12 of their last 13 games with Frazier averaging 10.5 points and four assists per game. This isn't the first time Larry Brown has run into the NCAA as he was placed on a postseason ban and three years of probation when he was coaching at Kansas because of recruiting violations.
