Tennessee gets ahead of the recruiting game and lands its first commit in the 2019 class

Training camp is just around the corner for Tennessee and coach Butch Jones, but coach is still doing some serious work on the recruiting trail. While he likely won't be recruiting too much for the class of 2017 until the visits start coming in, Jones has already nabbed a commitment from a 2019 receiver.

In-state receiver Kendrell Surry got an offer from the Vols in April and now he's committed. Surry is rated as a four-star product out of Thompson Station Independence High School in Tennessee by Scout.com.

Surry is a 6'3", 185-pound receiver and is expected to end up in 247Sports' top 100 by the time they get to ranking that class. In the last week, Tennessee has landed five commitments in the class of 2017 so Jones can certainly afford to try and get ahead on some recruiting.
