Some unfortunate news for Volunteers fans today.

Jacob Gilliam, the redshirt senior who was recently awarded a scholarship this spring, has torn his ACL. The injury will require him to be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Gilliam made the team as a walk-on his freshman year and tore his ACL in his first career start on Sunday against Utah State. Gilliam was supposed to be the starting left tackle the season.

The injury is a huge blow for Tennessee as they have zero experienced starters on the offensive line returning and a lack of depth on the line is a huge weakness for the Vols.

In Gilliam’s place, redshirt freshman Brett Kendrick may get the starting nod. Butch Jones hasn’t announced an official starter just yet.
