Tennessee names Josh Dobbs' backup for the season

This might come as a bit of a surprise to some.

Tennessee has its obvious starter at quarterback in Josh Dobbs, but who is the backup? That's been a question since the end of the 2015 season and it seems we have an answer from head coach Butch Jones on that now.

"Quinten Dormady," said Jones on Tuesday. "He's one snap away."

He didn't add a whole lot else other than that Dormady had his best day of practice on Monday. While true freshman Jarrett Guarantano might look more like an obvious choice because of his similar style of play to Dobbs', Jones clearly like the guy who's been on campus for a year and knows the Vols' offensive system.

In limited appearances against five opponents as a true freshman, Dormady looked sharp completing 13 of 22 attempts and throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown. Hopefully he can put up similar stats in a similar role (knock on wood) and become the guy to emerge as the leader for the position next season.
