Texas WR to miss the 2016 season after reportedly getting struck by a car

Thankfully he is relatively OK.

The University of Texas confirmed on Thursday that wide receiver and kick returner Roderick Bernard would miss the 2016 season after successfully undergoing knee surgery.

While an ACL is an unfortunately common injury in football, how Bernard reportedly got the injury is not common at all. According to Scout and the Austin American-Stateman, Bernard suffered the injury after being struck by a vehicle.

Clearly it is an unfortunate injury for Bernard, but all indications are that he will be able to recover.

Bernard played in 11 games in 2015, most of which came on special teams. As a wide receiver, he only caught one pass for four yards last year.
