The Browns could have a new starting quarterback Sunday and this is why it matters

This just might be Robert Griffin III's last chance in Cleveland

Robert Griffin III has been gone since suffering a collarbone injury in week one against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he's definitely not been forgotten.

Although he hasn't officially been named the starter for Sunday's game against the Bengals, ESPN's Pat McManamon reports that "all signs point" to Griffin getting the start.

So,  it looks like the Browns quarterback will get one more chance to show what he's got over the last month of the season, just in time to get Cleveland that elusive first win.

Despite how the team has performed all season long, there are some bright spots, particularly at the receiver position. Terrelle Pryor leads the team in receiving with 62 catches for 855 yards and four touchdowns, and first round draft pick Corey Coleman is back in the mix after suffering a broken hand in practice Sept. 21. Both should be ripe for the brand of long ball offense a guy like Griffin can provide.

And Griffin, for one, believes he can still be the leader the Browns brought him in to be.

"I still think I can be the guy for this team, this organization," he said back in November.

Whether this will really be Griffin's last shot to prove it remains to be seen, but you have to figure after such a calamitous 2016 season, the organization is likely to clean house this offseason.

And unless he does something spectacular over the next four games, the odds that he'll be included in that impending fire sale, making way for yet another high quarterback draft pick in 2017, are pretty good.
