As NFL teams seek the Holy Grail of a franchise quarterbacks, Mahomes, coming out of Texas Tech, may be becoming the flavor of the month. First, it was Mitch Trubisky, the North Carolina signal caller. Now, Mahomes.

CBS' NFL Insider calls Mahomes a riser who could be a top three pick. NFL analyst Ian Raporport says NFL people have told him that Mahomes is their favorite QB. The Sporting News has Mahomes going in the first round.

Mahomes is coming off a crazy year in which he lead the FBS with 5,052 yards and 53 touchdowns. Much of that can be attributed to Tech's throw happy, spread offense that only makes QBs read a small portion of the field. Reading the entire field is a must for any NFL QB, and Mahomes hasn't been able to do that yet.
