The pro wrestling world is again in mourning as another former WWE performer has passed away

He was 68.

The pro wrestling world has experienced several deaths over the past month, and they were dealt yet another one on Tuesday.

According to Pro Wrestling Insider, former WWE and NWA wrestler "Outlaw" Ron Bass has passed away after complications from a burst appendix. He was 68 years old.

Bass first gained notoriety in the 1970s with the National Wrestling Alliance, winning several heavyweight championships across the wrestling territories at the time. He later joined the then-WWF in 1987, going up against competition like Junkyard Dog, Brutus Beefcake, and even a young Shawn Michaels in the 1988 King of the Ring.

The passing of Bass, real name Ron Heard, follows other legends in the pro wrestling business from the past month, including Ivan Koloff and George "the Animal" Steele.

Legacy

Bass is probably best known for an angle he ran with Brutus Beefcake in 1988, where Bass cut open Beefcake with one of his spurs on live television.

Bass recounted the legendary angle — which was ended abruptly at the 1989 Royal Rumble — with the Two Man Power Trip last year.

"That's because at the time it just wasn't happening up there and I was surprised that we did it. It worked out great but I never really found out who was against it in the end that had some say because they cut it a lot shorter than it could have been. We could have worked that thing for a year up there because you're in a different town and different state every night. We could have got a lot more mileage out of that one but it worked out well and with Beefcake I had known him and Hulk Hogan since they were Terry and Eddie Boulder just getting started in the Tennessee territory and it was a good run for us and he is a good guy."
