Teddy Bridgewater is likely done for the season after suffering a ACL tear and dislocated knee in practice earlier this week. Leaving Minnesota scrambling to find a replacement quarterback, and who they're looking at may not be the best idea.
According to Bleacher Report's Insider Buzz, the Vikings are strongly considering Mark Sanchez. That's right, the same Mark Sanchez who's done so bad in preseason for Denver that he's behind two players on the depth chart that have never thrown a pass in a regular season game.
It's hard to see how Sanchez could do anything to save the team's season. He'd be joining a new organization less than two weeks before the start of the season and would have extremely limited time to learn the playbook. That's problem enough even if he'd played well recently, which he hasn't.
In two preseason games, Sanchez threw for 219 yards with one touchdown and one interception, lost two fumbles and was sacked three times.
The Vikings are even reportedly willing to pay Sanchez the full salary on his current contract: $4.5 million this season. If that's the direction the organization wants to go, we can only wish them good luck... and don't say we didn't warn you if it doesn't pan out.
