There's a “strong level of confidence” Lane Kiffin will leave Alabama job this offseason

Is Lane Kiffin on his way out?

LSU has already named interim coach Ed Orgeron it's permanent head coach for next season and now the school will need to fill out some of his staff. Most importantly, the defensive-minded Orgeron will need a solid, if not great offensive coordinator.

Per Matt Moscona of Gridiron Now, there is a "strong level of confidence" that Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will leave Alabama's staff and join Orgeron's at LSU. Kiffin and Orgeron are very good friends as the two worked together at USC and Tennessee.

Kiffin's contract expires in February and several analysts have said that the Nick Saban fatigue for assistant coaches is a real problem at times. If Kiffin feels tired of getting chewed out on the sidelines by Saban then he may very well bounce for LSU to coach with a guy he knows likes him and he likes working with.

Should Kiffin join Orgeron's staff, it would be the third SEC school he's coached at and he could be the key piece for the Tigers to finally get an edge on Alabama as Kiffin would know a lot about Saban's defense and would have the defense to back it up.
