It's not often you see a high school underclassman absolutely tower over the competition, but that is exactly the case with Matt Van Komen. The would-be freshman —- where he lives in Utah, ninth grade is still considered middle school —- stands a ridiculous 7'4" and could still conceivably grow more!
He owns the paint —- duh, he's way bigger than everyone else —- and he even says he enjoys blocking shots. You have to love a kid who loves his defense. Van Komen already has offers from BYU and Utah and will surely be picking up a lot more as he grows into his body and puts on some weight.
In the meantime, enjoy his highlight reel and follow him throughout his high school career. It should be one fun ride.
