This SEC contender loses yet another freshman for the season

That's a bummer.

Florida was one of the teams in the SEC that was expected to compete to be a top tier team in the conference this year. That expectation still stands, but the Gators will have to do it without freshman wingman Dontay Bassett. He is suffering from a stress fracture in his right foot and it's expected to take 4-6 months to heal.

Bassett isn't discouraged though and sent out this tweet:

Florida also lost fellow freshman big man Deng Gak to an issue with his academic eligibility. The Gators should still have a strong roster with guys like Devin Robinson, John Egbunu, Kasey Hill, Chris Chiozza, KeVaughn Allen, Canyon Barry, Keith Stone, Justin Leon and Kevarrius Hayes.
