This true freshman with a legendary name could have an immediate impact for Ohio State

True freshman don't play on the offensive line at Ohio State. This one might.

Operating in the sports world with the name "Michael Jordan" can't be easy for anyone, but this true freshman at Ohio State is making the most of his opportunity. Jordan, who enrolled in Columbus in January, has been a standout force for the Buckeyes since arriving on campus and, at this point, it looks as if the 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive lineman will be garnering real playing time and, potentially, a starting spot.

Jordan addressed the assembled media earlier this week, and Bill Landis of Cleveland.com brings details of that conversation:

"I have a one-track mind. I came in here and said I'm gonna go as hard as I possibly can and see the results. You can't come into a place like this scared. If you come in here and you're not going full speed, you're gonna get left behind."

While much of that seems to be run-of-the-mill athlete speak, Jordan did open up on his goal being to open the season as a starter for Urban Meyer's team:

"The goal is always to start, always. No matter where I went it was always to start. It was just a matter of opportunity and I got my opportunity here."

Speaking of Meyer, the head coach was quoted as saying that "Michael Jordan for sure is playing" and there is every indication that he will stick to his word with that. Ohio State has been loaded on both sides of the ball in recent years, but there has been a glass ceiling for true freshman on the offensive line, leaving many to assume that Jordan is a future star in the making based on his progress to this point.
Jordan's status on the depth chart is worth monitoring as the season approaches, but he has already done more as a true freshman than anyone could have reasonably expected.
