No college football program can ever have too much depth along the offensive line and, with that, it makes sense that there is a ton of interest in four-star 2018 offensive tackle Christian Armstrong. The 6'5, 335-pound rising senior from Warner Robins (Ga.) is one of the best 25 players at the position nationally and, as of just a few weeks ago, it seemed pretty clear that he was making a choice between four programs.
Chad Simmons of Rivals brings word that the group in question (Auburn, Florida State, Penn State, Tennessee) now has two additional members and those programs are Mississippi State and Florida. To that end, Armstrong recently had this to say about the Gators:
"Florida was the first school to offer me, so I have always liked them."
"I like where Florida is right now as a team. Since coach [Jim] McElwain has been hired, the Florida train has been rolling. They have played for two SEC championships and I do not think they are that far away from playing for a national championship. I will probably visit them again this summer."
Armstrong is currently seen, as least by the 247Sports Crystal Ball, as a lean toward Florida State but the addition of two quality programs like the Gators and Bulldogs could change things. There is a long way to go before any firm announcement has to be made but, for now, it appears to be a six-horse race.
