WWE legend talks new deal, possible retirement match opponent

One more match?

Former WWE champion is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, it was announced on Monday.

In an interview with ESPN,

"I was shocked. I've been out of WWE for a long time and out of touch with them, so I didn't really expect this," Angle told ESPN.com. "It's a huge honor. This is the only Hall of Fame that I'm not in and probably [the one] I want to be in the most. This is the one that means the most for me. I had a lot of fun entertaining the fans for seven years with WWE, and I'm glad that my hard work paid off."

"But I really believe that the contract with WWE, whether I wrestle or not — and there aren't any guarantees either way — I feel like being an ambassador to the company is the most important thing for them and for me right now."

Angle later spoke with Lillian Garcia, as transcribed by Sportskeeda, and detailed who his final match would be against if he could choose anyone:

"The one that I would really love to have a final match with right now is the kid that's the hottest right now in WWE and that's AJ Styles. I wrestled AJ in TNA, and I can tell you that he is every bit as good as Shawn Michaels. The thing with AJ Styles, and I want everybody to realize this—you don't have to do anything with him. He does all the work. So it's an easy match for you. He flies around the ring. He does all the bumping."

Styles is slated to defend his WWE championship against John Cena at the Royal Rumble at the end of January.

If Styles does lose the belt, what better showdown than with the 48-year-old Angle on the grandest stage of them all?

If they match up again, we'll see if they can build on this instant classic from Total Nonstop Action:
