Young SEC quarterback described as a "better" version of Tim Tebow

This should get this fanbase excited.

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen knows offense and knows how to develop a quarterback.

Throughout his career, he's coached guys like Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott and even Cam Newton in the past, but his current QB in Starkville, Nick Fitzgerald, may be his most-impressive project yet.

The Bulldogs went 6-7 in Fitzgerald's first season under center, but there is reason for optimism in Mississippi as Walter Football talked with one scout who opened up about what he thought of not only Mullen's track record, but who Fitzgerald reminds him of.

Via Walter Football:

"Dan Mullen, meanwhile, had Josh Harris, Alex Smith, Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott, and now Fitzgerald. In fact Mullen coached Cam longer than Malzahn. Four of those six had barely one offer coming out of high school. I'd trust Dan Mullen to develop a quarterback over Malzahn. Fitzgerald just broke his school season total offense record following the best player in school history and Fitzgerald is just three years removed from running a Wing T offense in Georgia high school. Plus he's 6-foot-4, 230-pounds. He's basically a faster better arm version of Tebow."

Comparing Fitzgerald to Tebow is interesting, as Tebow came to Florida as a much more highly touted quarterback, along with being a much bigger quarterback overall. However, Fitzgerald ran a Wing T in high school and is just as comfortable as Tebow was running a run-first attack in the SEC.

Fitzgerald, like Tebow, struggles through the air, but in Mullen's system he can thrive in other areas that can drive opposing defenses nuts.

Only time will tell if Fitzgerald can bring the same kind of magic that Tebow and Prescott did for Mullen in the past.
