With how many players are on college football teams, there are often players that end up “sharing” a number. Some schools have two and sometimes even three players that wear the same number, but there is a catch: you can’t have those players on the field at the same time.

Michigan State had both No. 22 players — wide receiver Paul Andrie and running back Delton Williams — on the field, drawing the illegal procedure penalty.

Some teams (see above) have tearaway jerseys for players exactly for these situations, but it looks like Michigan State had a lapse in substitution on this play.

It wound up not mattering; the previously winless in-conference Spartans got a big 49-0 win over Rutgers.
