Michigan State got called for one of the rarest penalties in college football

Ooops.

With how many players are on college football teams, there are often players that end up "sharing" a number. Some schools have two and sometimes even three players that wear the same number, but there is a catch: you can't have those players on the field at the same time.

Michigan State had both No. 22 players — wide receiver Paul Andrie and running back Delton Williams — on the field, drawing the illegal procedure penalty.

Some teams (see above) have tearaway jerseys for players exactly for these situations, but it looks like Michigan State had a lapse in substitution on this play.

It wound up not mattering; the previously winless in-conference Spartans got a big 49-0 win over Rutgers.
