Ohio State reportedly losing two former 4-star recruits to transfer in one day

These are some serious losses.

Ohio State is a recruiting powerhouse and with that label comes some great things —- like landing four and five-star recruits —- but there are also some downfalls and they are finding that out now it would seem. There is a cap of 85 scholarships that teams can hand out and the Buckeyes are actually a little over that limit so they are experiencing a little bit of attrition.

Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch is reporting that freshman offensive lineman Tyler Gerald is transferring out of Ohio State.

From his report:

Several sources said Gerald quit taking part in the off-season conditioning program a couple of weeks ago. Attempts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful. Originally from Sciotoville East outside Portsmouth before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, for his senior year, he was part of the 2016 OSU recruiting class.

He is the third reserve lineman from last year's team to move on. Evan Lisle, who graduated in December with a year of eligibility remaining, transferred to Duke. Kyle Trout announced in late January he intends to graduate from OSU this spring and transfer to Cincinnati. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Gerald is a 6'5", 310-pound lineman and not the only one transferring out of the school. Senior receiver James Clark has decided to graduate and will become eligible immediately wherever he lands next. He finishes his OSU career with six catches for 47 yards. The Buckeyes are still two players over the limit so we can probably expect two more players to find new homes soon as well.
