AP Poll Week 3: Fear the Terps

Kentucky moved up to the top spot in this week’s AP Poll after beating then-No. 5 Duke and winning all of its games by double-digits so far. Maryland beat a plucky Georgetown team at home — the first matchup between the two in College Park since 1973 — and is still undefeated despite a couple scares. Miami saw the biggest jump thanks to some impressive wins over Butler and Utah in the Puerto Rico Tip Off tournament, both of which were ranked teams.

Kentucky wasn’t the unanimous choice as the Terps did get six votes and are at their highest ranking since winning the 2002 championship. UNC dropped eight spots after an upset loss to UNI on the road and Michigan State bolted to the top after an impressive victory over Kansas that featured a triple-double from Denzel Valentine (and it isn’t even February!).
