The Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes don't like each other. It's that simple. Anytime these two college football teams play, things get heated. The 2016 showdown was no different and it also produced one of the best moments in the ACC rivalry's history.
Entering the Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at Hard Rock Stadium, both teams were ranked and looking to make a big-time statement. FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher and Miami coach Mark Richt had their teams ready to play from the opening kickoff, too. The result was a game for the ages.
Florida State was riding a six-game winning streak against Miami back then, and a play now known as "The Block at the Rock" helped make it seven that Saturday night in Miami Gardens.

The University of Miami, at 4-0, certainly had College Football Playoff and even national championship aspirations. Quarterback Brad Kaaya, running back Mark Walton, and wide receiver Stacy Coley were all solid, and defensive coordinator Manny Diaz had plenty of talent on that side of the ball, too.
FSU, despite dropping two games already, wasn't going to go down quietly.
Miami jumped out to a 13-0 lead late in the second quarter thanks to a touchdown pass from Kaaya to Coley and a pair of field goals by kicker Michael Badgley. Florida State kicker Ricky Aguayo cut the deficit with a field goal just before the end of the first half.
The second half belonged to the Seminoles, though. Quarterback Deondre Francois connected on touchdown passes to running back Dalvin Cook and wide receiver Kermit Whitfield in the third quarter, and Aguayo gave FSU a little insurance with a field goal midway through the fourth quarter.
After an impressive drive late, Kaaya found Coley again for a potential game-tying touchdown with under two minutes to play. All of that effort went to waste on the extra point.
The Block At The Rock
The 'Canes and 'Noles were bound for overtime. It just felt like it was going there. Then, on the extra point attempt, DeMarcus Walker busted through the line, got his hand up, and blocked the kick.
FSU took over, picked up a couple of first downs, and extended Miami's rivalry losing streak in incredible fashion. It was easily one of the best NCAA games of the year.
Despite losses at Louisville and to North Carolina in Tallahassee before the win, the Seminoles put together a fine CFB season. They lost at home to Clemson a couple of weeks later, but got to play in and beat Michigan in the Orange Bowl. FSU finished 10-3 that season. Miami went 9-4.
Without "The Block at the Rock," who knows what that season would have looked like.
