The trial date between Jameis Winston’s accuser and Florida State University has been pushed back to September of next year. The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that a federal judge ruled the decision last week. The federal lawsuit, which was filed by Erica Kinsman in January, was supposed to begin in August of 2016, but will now begin on the week of Sept. 19, 2016.
“Kinsman and Florida State asked the judge for the delay in a joint motion, which says they’re “also engaged in substantive negotiations” with mediation scheduled for Nov. 24.” The Tampa Bay Times reports.
Klinsmann is suing FSU for allegedly failing to follow its Title IX obligations in how it investigated and remedied her rape accusation of the former Seminoles quarterback. Kinsman is a former FSU student herself. Kinsman has also filed a separate civil lawsuit against Winston — the trial that case has been scheduled for May 2017.
