UPDATE: ESPN reporter Darren Rovell says the NCAA has inquired about this case. They are interested in gaining details, but have not launched an official investigation.
Earlier today, a report linked Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and former high school teammate and current UAB player Chris Rabb in a point-shaving allegation.
A report earlier this week alleged that Raab placed a $5,000 bet on the Florida State and Louisville game. Rabb allegedly bet on Louisville covering the 1-point spread at halftime. He won that bet. Louisville led 21-7 at halftime.
Now, Al.com is reporting that UAB officials are investigating whether or not this took place.
“We’re are aware of the allegation and looking into the matter,” UAB Brian Mackin said in statement sent out by the university this afternoon, confirming a TMZ report. “That is the only comment we will have at this time.”
Florida State has not made any official comment yet. The Seminoles are scheduled to kickoff tomorrow against Virginia at 6:30 p.m.
