Seminole Boosters choose to not pick up Bobby Bowden's option year

Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden has made waves this offseason for running his mouth. He caused a stir when he appeared on the Paul Finebaum show and said Jameis Winston was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to Florida State. He also reminded fans that the SEC is the better conference when he made these comments.

Bowden is currently employed by Seminole Boosters Inc., but his option year in his two-year contract will not be renewed, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Even though his contract will not be renewed, the organization will still continue to book Bowden on a per-event basis.

The former Seminoles coach was hired in 2013 to raise money for the athletics department in 2014 and 2015. Bowden didn't think he did enough for the kind of money he was making and wasn't surprised by the decision to not renew his contract.

"They decided not to renew it. (I) wasn't surprised at all," said Bowden, who still lives in Tallahassee since his forced retirement following the 2009 season.

"I didn't feel like I was earning my money, to be honest with you. I didn't feel like I was doing enough to earn my money."

He was making $250,000 a year.
