Four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson announced his commitment to Florida State during a ceremony at his high school, Seffner Armwood, in Tampa on Wednesday.
Thompson became the second prospect to commit to new head coach Willie Taggart since his arrival. The wide receiver originally committed to Oregon on June 19th, but decommitted on Dec. 9 after the Taggart left the Ducks for the Seminoles.
Thompson took an official visit to Tallahassee one week after reopening his recruitment and has been heavily pursued by Taggart, linebackers coach Raymond Woodie, wide receivers coach David Kelly and other members of the Seminoles staff, according to 247Sports.
Thompson recorded 27 receptions for 487 yards and six touchdowns during his senior season at Seffner Armwood and is the first prospect from the high school to commit to FSU in the 2018 national recruiting cycle.
The Seminoles are also targeting two of his teammates, four-star strong-side defensive end Malcolm Lamar and three-star linebacker James Miller, with one week remaining until National Signing Day.
Thompson — who is expected to return to Tallahassee this weekend as part of an unofficial visit — ranks as the no. 28 wide receiver and No. 156 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Florida State currently ranks No. 15 overall and third among ACC teams, according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings.
The Seminoles signed seven players during the early signing period, including three early enrollees and have eight hard commitments heading into National Signing Day.
