Baylor and Art Briles made a stunning admission following their official and mutual breakup

This is an interesting development.

On Friday, Baylor and Art Briles made their decision to part ways official. While this has been building since the university fired Briles almost a month ago, this move means the breakup will not enter the court system and that the two parties have officially ended their relationship.

What is stunning, though, is what the two parties admitted in the press release announcing the decision.

From the Baylor press release:

Both parties acknowledge that there were serious shortcomings in the response to reports of sexual violence by some student-athletes, including deficiencies in University processes and the delegation of disciplinary responsibilities with the football program. Baylor is addressing these shortcomings and making ongoing improvements.

While Baylor is in the process of recovering from the university's sexual assault scandal, it is interesting that the release would mention that both parties are taking some fault for it. You would expect that the two would make a rather neutral release on the situation, especially when you consider that both are facing legal action due to the on-campus assaults.

However, the fact that they do take fault can be a good thing. It acknowledges that things need to improve, and that the school needs to work on its policies to prevent something like this from happening in the future.
