Kansas might have the most brutal out of conference schedule this year

No one will accuse the Jayhawks of soft scheduling, that's for sure.

Kansas is a top five basketball program in the country year in and year out. The Jayhawks are scheduling like it too this season with their first game to come against Indiana in the Armed Forces Classes in Hawaii. The Hoosiers are ranked 11th in ESPN's way too early rankings and should be a tough out, especially as the first in the season to play.

Four days after that game the team will travel east to play in the Champions Classic against this year's No. 1 team in Duke. Then there's the SEC/Big 12 Challenge that comes later in January where Kansas will travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Here's all of Kansas' out of conference schedule:

There are certainly some pretty decent to good squads in there. The CBE Classic includes Georgia, NIT champion George Washington and UAB so it's not exactly full of pushovers.

This is the kind of aggressive scheduling that gets teams into the NCAA Tournament even they don't win as many games as some other schools. This is a great job by Kansas and hopefully it pays off for them should they fall short of expectations, which is to win another Big 12 title and get a high seed in the Big Dance.
