2016 Jimmy V Classic field features two major matchups

We definitely won't see these kind of matchups again.

The Jimmy V Classic takes place every December before teams get rolling through their conference schedules and this year's two games feature some big time programs. The first of two games will feature Arizona State and Purdue while the night cap features Duke and Florida.

The Florida Gators are looking to improve upon coach Mike White's first season (the team went 21-15) while the Duke Blue Devils are poised to make a national title run with one of the top recruiting classes coming on campus. This is the first time in 15 years that Duke has participated in the event and the first time since the NCAA Tournament in 2000 that Duke and Florida have met on the court. An interesting connection is that White's father is actually the athletic director at Duke.

The games will take place on December 6th and be played in Madison Square Garden. ASU head coach Bobby Hurley adds to the Duke mystique as he was a point guard on the back-to-back national title game teams for Duke in the early 1990s. ASU is 3-2 all-time against the Boilermakers.
