NFL Draft prospect that could get scouts ‘fired’ is listed as the top player at his position by one analyst

That's certainly intriguing.

NFL.com analyst and NFL Draft expert Mike Mayock has released his latest position rankings and he's got quite the list of safeties. After being described as a player who could get scouts fired, Jabrill Peppers is now taking his place among the top safeties according to Mayock.

Here's the list as it reads now:
1. Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
2. Jamal Adams, LSU
3. Malik Hooker, Ohio State
4. Obi Melifonwu, Connecticut
T-5. Marcus Williams, Utah
T-5. Marcus Maye, Florida

Most people have Adams getting drafted in the top five of all players so to rank Peppers there might imply that Peppers should also be a top five pick. But teams won't pick him there just because he had no real position during his time at Michigan and wasn't an expert any one thing. However, he was a jack-of-all-trades kind of player who was very good at multiple other things.

He could play as a linebacker if needed, could drop into nickel packages and can blitz from all angles. However, he only has one interception and ten passes defensed during his three years at Michigan, which scares a lot of scouts.
