BREAKING: Quarterback Treon Harris will reportedly transfer from Florida

Treon Harris reportedly moved to wide receiver during the offseason.

Florida quarterback Treon Harris will be a Gator no longer, according to a recent report. Ryan Bartow of 247sports reported on Monday that Harris, who threw for 1,676 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions last season and completed 50 percent of his passes, has been granted a release from his scholarship to Florida.

The news really comes as no surprise — rumors had been swirling this offseason that Harris, who struggled significantly when he was pushed into the starting role following Will Grier's suspension, had been moved from quarterback to wide receiver with the additions of QBs Feleipe Franks and Austin Appleby. Not to mention Luke Del Rio's positivity during the spring football season made Harris' spot in the quarterback room look virtually nonexistent.

Harris will be immediately eligible to play at the JUCO level, but will have to sit out a year per NCAA rules if he wants to transfer to a D-I program.

We will continue to update this situation if it continues to develop.
