College LB tragically killed right before his final season

This is just tragic for everyone.

Kentucky State and former Oregon State linebacker Joshua Williams was killed in a shooting in Inglewood, California on Tuesday. The 24-year old was shot in the upper torso per KTLA. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital and no arrests have been made.

"KSU Athletics is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its own," said Kentucky State Director of Athletics William Head. "Another senseless act of violence silences a potential voice of leadership." His first school also sent out its condolences via its Twitter account.

Williams started his career at Oregon State and was on the Beavers' roster from 2011-2013. He played in four games as a true freshman, registering four tackles. Williams was on the active roster but did not suit up during the 2012 season, likely due to a DUI citation.

In 2014, Williams had 47 total tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception for KSU. Williams appeared in only two games for the Thorobreds in 2015. Williams' high school coach said that Williams was only home in Los Angeles for a month before he was slated to go back to Kentucky for his last season as a Thorobred.
