University of Colorado assistant coach Joe Tumpkin has been suspended with pay by the school after an alleged domestic violence incident involving his ex-girlfriend of three years.

According to a report by the Daily Camera, a judge granted Tumpkin's ex-girlfriend a temporary restraining order after she filed a complaint that alleged Tumpkin physically assaulted her on several occasions during their three-year relationship, including during an incident at a hotel in Broomfield, Colorado in February 2015.
Police are investigating the allegations, and Tumpkin hasn't been arrested. The judge will determine, at the end of this month, whether to make the temporary order a permanent one, the newspaper reported.
In the complaint, the woman said Tumpkin threw her against the wall, and proceeded to throw her on the bed when she attempted to leave the hotel room. She also said the violence increased when she moved in with Tumpkin in the summer of 2015, and that he threatened to kill other men she was interested in.
The complaint said the most recent incident occurred on Nov. 18 before Colorado played Washington State., whenTumpkin choked her and dragged her by her hair.
Tumpkin, 45, served as the Buffaloes' interim defensive coordinator after Jim Leavitt took the defensive coordinator position at Oregon. Tumpkin was being considered for the full-time DC job at Colorado. He began coaching at Colorado in 2015.
