Rumors have been swirling around Baton Rogue about LSU head coach Les Miles’ future. Reports surfaced last week that Miles was ‘coaching for his job’ during LSU’s last two games against Ole Miss and Texas A&M., Despite seemingly all the signs pointing to his oust after a 38-17 loss to Ole Miss, Miles didn’t seem concerned whatsoever about where he stood in Baton Rogue during his press conference on Monday.
A name that has surfaced as a potential Miles replacement is Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher, who came up in reports last week when news broke about Miles potentially being out at LSU. Fisher was asked about the rumors on Monday.
“I have no comment on that,” Fisher said via the Orlando Sentinel. “I have a policy: I don’t speak about jobs, that’s unfair to the players that are there, the players that are here and the coaches here and there. There’s no job opening. That’s a policy that I have. I’m not going to comment on any job in any way, shape or form.
Fisher later added: “At the same time, when someone asks you in recruiting, I look at it as a positive. That means we’re doing things right, here.”
Fisher is right — as of today, there is no opening at LSU, so there’s really nothing to discuss. We’ll see if that holds true if Miles does leave Baton Rogue, though.
