Former LSU head coach Les Miles is reportedly back on the job hunt as the Tigers roll on without him.
ESPN dropped a bit of a teaser in a piece published detailing Miles' coaching search:
"Sources said Miles and his representatives have already been contacted about coaching in 2017. Miles told ESPN on Thursday that he would not discuss any specific job opportunities, either college or NFL."
The NFL bit at the end is a bit shocking.
Miles previously coached tight ends for the Dallas Cowboys in the late 90's, but we hadn't heard any rumors of the head coach heading to the NFL. It would certainly be a stunner if he passed up on job offers at the college level in an attempt to head to the NFL with a presumed handful of positions open for his taking.
If he stays in college, Miles could go to a school like Purdue, which is currently open. Miles' name has also been rumored around the Baylor program, as he could be viewed as a more permanent replacement to Jim Grobe.
Miles was fired by LSU after a 2-2 start to the season, with an ineffective offense being largely to blame. LSU has since averaged over 40 points per game since they fired Miles, and interim coach Ed Orgeron is potentially emerging as a favorite to keep that job.
