Maryland officially fired head coach Randy Edsall on Sunday, ending a several-day long controversy that started after rumors leaked that Edsall would be let go after the Ohio State game on Saturday. After the firing, Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson addressed those rumors in an awkward way.

Simple statement here by Anderson to try and squash those now-correct rumors. However, Anderson dug himself in a big of a hole by continuing to address those throughout his presser.

So it was disappointing that those rumors came out and you say that the reports were “wrong”, but… you did exactly what the reports said! The rumors were that Edsall would be fired after the Ohio State game, Maryland did exactly that, and then you try and dispel the rumors? Anderson would have been better off just avoiding addressing those rumors at all or by leaving it at the first statement that you made the decision today.

Bad look, Maryland.
