Rising DB recruit decommits from No. 1 recruiting class, could be flipping to a rival squad

Three-star DB decommits from No. 1 recruiting class.

Three-star safety Randy Russell announced his decommitment from the University of Miami on Tuesday.

Russell, a Miami native, has been committed to the Hurricanes since February. He announced his decision via Twitter.

"Change is inevitable," Russell said in his statement on Twitter. "With that being said, I will be backing off my pledge from the University of Miami."

Russell's decision comes only days after he visited the University of Florida. Miami has had the No. 1 recruiting class for some time, and while they won't drop just because of Rusell, it still is a blow to the amazing class they've assembled so far.

According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Russell is a 100 percent lock to commit to Florida. Russell is the No. 45 safety in the Class of 2018, and he is the No. 94 player from the state of Florida. The 5'11, 180-pound prospect is being recruited by Florida defensive backs coach Corey Bell.
