Ole Miss defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche has been charged with possession of marijuana in the wake of him falling from a fourth story hotel window on Saturday evening in Atlanta, Ga. A police report obtained by the Atlanta Journal Constitution on Monday stated that officers found “approximately seven rolled cigarettes” in the hotel room that Nkemdiche was staying in.
Around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday evening, police found Nkemdiche “conscious and breathing.” It was later learned that Nkemdiche broke the window of the hotel room, walked approximately 15 feet and climbed over a wall and fell 15 feet according to WSB’s Zach Klein. Nkemdiche was reported to have suffered “multiple cuts” after the fall.
Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement on Sunday that he was “still learning about the matter, but obviously Robert’s well being is our greatest concern.” A football spokesman declined Monday morning to provide additional comments on the situation to the AJC.
Ole Miss is set to take on Oklahoma State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 2016 at 8:30 p.m. in New Orleans. We will continue to update this story as news comes.
